Tournament of Roses Texting

Ready for the Rose Parade?  If not, just text the Tournament of Roses with questions.  Here’s their Press Release:

Fans Can Text “ROSES” to 95495 to Keep Up-to-Date with Important

Information During the Week Leading up to the Big Event

PASADENA, Calif. (December 28, 2009) – The Tournament of Roses is excited to announce that beginning with the commencement of float decorating, fans will be able to text in questions and receive a direct, text answer from a Tournament of Roses representative. To submit their questions, fans can text the word “ROSES” followed by a question to 95495.

The new text messaging system allows the public to receive on-demand answers about Pre-Parade events including Bandfest, Equestfest, and Float Decorating, as well as general inquiries about the Tournament of Roses.  Tournament officials will be on hand to answer questions starting Monday, December 28, 2009 through Thursday, December 31, 2009 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Text messages sent after these hours will be answered the following day.  As this is an experimental launch for the program, the live answers will not be available on Jan. 1 for Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game on-the-go questions.

“This is a great way for the Tournament to incorporate new technology into the daily lives of those who are constantly on-the-go,” said Jeff Throop, Acting President of the Tournament of Roses.  “We look forward to measuring feedback from the public and expanding this information portal in the future.”

The launch of the 2010 Text “ROSES” messaging program is an experiment to assess the need from fans requiring information on-the-go.  Depending on the use and feedback of the program, the Tournament of Roses will expand its offerings for the 2011 events.
