Police Search for “Bear Hug” Suspect

Arcadia Police have released the sketch of a man they’re searching for, who they say attacked two adult women near schools in two separate incidents.  The first attack happened Tuesday August 25th at 8:55am near Dana Middle School at 1401 S. First Avenue.  The second happened about an hour later in the westbear hug suspect parking lot of Arcadia High School at 180 Campus Drive.

Police say in each incident the women reported that a man came up from behind them as they were going to or from their cars and put them in a “bear hug” without saying a word.  With the suspect’s arms tightly around them the victims say they felt several pelvic thrusts from behind before he released them and ran away.

Police say it looks like the same suspect was involved in both attacks based on the victim’s descriptions.   They described him as an Asian man 15-20 years old, black hair, clean-shaven, 5′ 07″ tall and “chubby.”  He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with tan shorts.

Police say neither woman suffered injuries.   Investigators ask anyone with information  to contact the Arcadia Police Department at (626) 574-5150 or submit crime tips and information via text, phone, or web to LA Regional Crime Stoppers, 800-222-TIPS (8477).
