Pasadena Unified Announces Eugene Field Elementary School Principal

Press Release From Pasadena Unified School District

The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) is pleased to announce the selection of Daniel Bagby as principal of Eugene Field Elementary School.
“I am pleased to welcome Mr. Bagby to the PUSD leadership team,” said Superintendent Brian McDonald. “With his proven track record of effectively educating culturally and linguistically diverse learners, he is well-prepared to lead the students, staff and community of Field Elementary School and its model dual language immersion program to further a culture of success and continuous improvement that meets the needs of every student.”
Mr. Bagby brings more than 25 years of experience as an educator to his new position. He joins PUSD from the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he has been principal of the Ambassador School of Global Education since 2014. The elementary school, one of six autonomous small schools of the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools, is part of both national and international networks that create opportunities for teachers to collaborate on student projects. The school offers foreign language instruction in Korean, Spanish, and Mandarin, and has established partnerships to promote understanding among the people, leaders and institutions of the U.S. and Asia. Mr. Bagby’s experience includes working as a program coordinator, curriculum specialist, instructional coach, and bilingual teacher.
“I am thrilled and humbled to be selected as the new principal of Field Elementary School and will bring my passion for student achievement to this new position with the Pasadena Unified School District,” said Mr. Bagby. “The school, with its Mandarin dual language immersion program, has an established reputation of translating its beliefs about children and their capabilities into action with spectacular results. My desire is to harness this vision and partner with school stakeholders to further the school’s culture of success to meet the needs of all students.”
Mr. Bagby has a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Arts from Biola University.
Mr. Bagby was selected after a competitive process that included feedback provided by Field Elementary School stakeholders, students, employees, and parents that informed the development of the new principal profile.
Mr. Bagby’s appointment is effective July 1, 2016. Former principal Ana Maria Apadoca has been selected as the new principal of Altadena Elementary.
