The Person of Interest in a sexual harassment incident at Puente Hills Mall was identified and charged with felony lewd act upon a child Tuesday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department identified and arrested Claremont resident 45-year-old Richard Camaraena on suspicion of molesting a nine-year-old boy in a Puente Hills Mall restroom in City of Industry on July 8. The boy went to the movie theater with his family and went to use the restroom. He was in the stall when the door allegedly wiggled open and Camaraena entered the stall. According to prosecutors, Camaraena then reportedly touched the boy inappropriately while the boy attempted to resist him. Camaraena left the restroom, and the boy immediately told his family what happened, which prompted them to contact the police.

Camaraena had his arraignment Tuesday, in Department N of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pomona Branch, with prosecutors asking for bail to be set at $100,000. If found guilty as charged, Camaraena may face up to eight years in state prison.
