CHRISTMAS AT THE CANNON Christmas for those less fortunate

Written By John Smithimg_9271

Christmas at the Cannon is a unique community event that has evolved into a tradition for the Montebello community. For the past 31 years individuals representing community groups, service clubs, public service, local Fire and Police departments and Churches come together to provide a brighter Christmas for those less fortunate. Our program now in its 31st year brings together over 3800 invited residents and hundreds of volunteers from the community. The invited guest enjoy a wonderful lunch and receive age appropriate gifts for their children. Last year we distributed over 3,100 toys, served 3,600 meals and distributed food baskets to over 850 families in need. Montebello is known for taking care of it’s own. Christmas at the Canon’s time, food and material goods are provided through donations. Words cannot make a case for what you actually see occur on this day. The expression of gratitude that appears on a parent’s face that is struggling or a smile on a child’s face that extends from ear to ear really makes all the effort worth the while.
