from a Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Press Release
August 1, 2017
A South Pasadena man pleaded guilty today to murdering his young child in April, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
At Tuesday’s court appearance, Aramazd Andressian Sr., 35, pleaded open to one count of first-degree murder in case GA087764. The case was filed for warrant on June 23.
The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 23 in Department 5 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Alhambra Branch. The open plea means a sentence was not negotiated with the District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors believe the killing of 5-year-old Aramazd Andressian Jr. took place on or about April 21. The boy was last seen with his father, who was found unconscious the next day at a park in South Pasadena.
On June 23, Andressian Sr. was arrested in Las Vegas and extradited to Los Angeles County to face criminal prosecution for his son’s death. More than two months after the boy’s disappearance, his body was discovered in the Lake Cachuma area of Santa Barbara County.
Deputy District Attorney Craig Hum of the Major Crimes Division prosecuted the case.
The investigation was led by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
