On Monday, July 31, 2017, at 10:58 p.m. deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station and medical aid responded to a shots fired/man down call in the 10600 block of Dumond Avenue, Bloomington. Victor Chaparro was found on the sidewalk near his residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. CPR was initiated at the scene, and Chaparro was rushed to a local area hospital, but despite life-saving measures, Chaparro was pronounced deceased at 11:34 p.m.
Witnesses in the area described seeing a silver or other light colored, four-door sedan speeding away from the area immediately after the shots were fired.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail was summoned and responded to assume the investigation.
