From a Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Press Release
A 29-year-old man was charged today with grabbing a woman who was walking in Pasadena and attempting to put her inside his pickup truck, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Jose Gabriel Diaz Servellon (dob 6/21/88) of Pasadena faces one count each of kidnapping, assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and criminal threats.
Arraignment in case GA101634 is scheduled today in Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch.
On July 29, the 19-year-old victim was walking near Maple Street and Fair Oaks Avenue when the defendant allegedly pulled over in front of her and waited for her to pass him by, prosecutors said. When the woman passed by, Diaz Servellon is charged with grabbing the woman and dragging her on the ground toward his truck while threatening her life, prosecutors added.
The defendant allegedly released the woman and fled the scene when a good Samaritan driving by saw what was happening and pulled over, prosecutors said.
Diaz Servellon faces a possible maximum sentence of more than nine years in state prison if convicted as charged. Prosecutors are requesting bail be set at $500,000.
The case remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department.
