According to fire officials, on Tuesday a large branch fell from a tree at a daycare-type center in Pasadena, critically injuring a 2-year-old girl and harming two others.
Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department said the incident occurred at Linda Vista Children’s Center, in the 1200 block of Linda Vista Avenue shortly after noon. Derderian described the facility as a private daycare-type place on city-owned property.
A 2-year-old girl, in critical condition, was rushed to a hospital by ambulance while two other children were transported with minor injuries, according to Derderian. At the hospital, the two children were taken out of an ambulance and reunited with their caregiver or parent before heading into the facility for treatment. Both children were able to walk into the hospital on their own while holding hands with an adult.
There was no definite reason as to what caused the branch to fall and is currently under investigation.
