State of Emergency in Butte County declared by Governor Brown

Governor Brown has declared a State of Emergency for Butte County. On August 29th, 2017, a fire started in Butte County that has since spread throughout, destroying many homes and caused the closure of several roadways. It was announced by Governor Brown on September 1st, 2017, that all citizens residing nearby or in Butte County should heed his warning and the increasing dangers of the fire, as well as all safety and government personnel adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the Office of Service Emergencies and the State Emergencies. This fire, labeled the Ponderosa Fire, has been made worse by the very hot and dry existing weather conditions, damaging thousands of acres of land.
