John Creech, 45-years old, was sentenced today to 11 years in prison for killing a former Fox executive whose remains were found two years later in the Angeles National Forest. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that Creech was found guilty in July of one count of voluntary manslaughter. Deputy District Attorney Bobby Grace with the Major Crimes Division prosecuted the case, while Creech was sentenced by the Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephen Marcus.
Creech beat the victim, Gavin Smith, a former UCLA basketball player after Smith was last seen with Creech’s estranged wife at a park in the victim’s car. Almost a year later, the victim’s car was found at a Simi Valley storage facility connected to Creech, and Smith’s remains were found on October 26th, 2014, in a shallow grave in the Angeles National Forest. This case, case BA34207 was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sherrif’s Department.
