Officers Assaulted, Man Pleads Guilty

Oscar Ovidio Diaz pleaded no contest to one count of assault upon a peace officer, the D.A.’s office announced. Diaz, 32-years old, entered a plea for attacking police officers during an investigation of a possible stolen vehicle near the University of Southern California.

He was immediately sentenced to five years in state prison.

Two Los Angeles police officers made contact with Diaz on October 27th, 2015, near Magnolia Avenue and 27th street after finding the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen. When he refused to comply with the officers, Diaz cut both officers as they tried to subdue him. During the struggle, one of the police officers shot and wounded him.
