George Matsumoto pleaded guilty to killing his wife two years ago in the couple’s San Pedro home, he entered his plea to one count of second-degree murder and admitted the special allegation that he personally used a firearm.
He is expected to receive 19 years to life in state prison.
A Family member contacted police, asking for a welfare check for Mary Matsumoto, 72, who had not been heard from for several days. Authorities found the victim in a bed shot three times in the head at the couple’s home. The suspect was in the home, unresponsive and was arrested. He believed his wife was having an affair, according to Deputy District Attorney Kelly Kelley who prosecuted the case.
