Darrion Tyrone Parker, 23-years old, pleaded not guilty to eight felony counts in case NA107882 which includes six counts of second-degree robbery and one count each of fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s motor vehicle causing serious bodily injury and resisting an executive officer. Branded the “Diaper Bandit,” Parker was charged with stealing diapers from several stores and leading police on a pursuit, resulting in the injury of a child, the LA County D.A.’s office announced.
Between December 2016 and November 2017, he allegedly pilfered diapers with the threat of force from several supermarkets and retail stores in the Long Beach area. A store employee confronted Parker in the parking lot about stealing merchandise before he fled the location.
The police were called and a pursuit began, during which, the defendant allegedly crashed his vehicle into another car severely injuring a 6-year old passenger. He then attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended and taken into the custody shortly thereafter.
Parker is scheduled to return to court on November 29th for a prehearing conference in Department S01 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch. The “Diaper Bandit,” faces a maximum possible sentence of 18 years in state prison if convicted as charged.
