Deadly DUI in Burbank

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that Stergios Antonios Economos of Burbank, pleaded no contest to the DUI death of a woman who was walking to her job at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. He pleaded no contest to one count each of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of a drug causing injury; he also admitted to two allegations of inflicting great bodily injury on two victims in the open plea to the court. The open plea indicates that his sentence was not negotiated with the District Attorney’s Office. He allegedly ran a red light, running over the victim, Michelle Ann Landes, 64, at a crosswalk near Alameda Avenue and Lincoln Street, he then crashed into a car. The driver of the car was injured, and Landes died as a result of her injuries. Economos is facing a possible maximum sentence of 13 years in state prison.
