Homeless Man Facing Murder Charge

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that Robert Leo Mewhorter, is facing one count of attempted murder with allegations of use of a handgun and causing great bodily injury. Mewhorter, who is homeless, has been charged with shooting a man during an argument at a Venice Bar.

He initially pleaded not guilty and is scheduled back for a preliminary hearing. He allegedly got into an intense argument at a Venice bar, where he left and reportedly returned later and opened fire, injuring the victim. Mr. Mewhorter is facing a possible maximum sentence of 34 years to life in state prison.
