Russian-Born Woman Charged with Kidnapping and Extortion

On Wednesday, March 6 a Russian-born woman was found guilty of parental kidnapping in Wichita, Kansas.

Bogdana Alexandrovna Mobley, 38, has been found guilt of taking her child, identified only as S.M., out of the country in order to extort money from the child’s father.

Mobley, currently in the midst of a divorce, shares joint custody with S.M.’s father, Brian Mobley. According to court records between April 2014 and November 2016 Mobley only allowed Brian Mobley contact with their child through Skype and cell phones. She reportedly told Brian Mobley that he would have to give her money in order to see their child.

In addition to facing three years in federal prison for kidnapping Mobley also faces up to 20 years for extortion. Her sentencing is set for May 20.
