Alberto Ochoa, 22, and three others have been found guilty of the 2014 murder of USC grad student Xinran Ji, 24.
On July 24, 2014 Ji was returning to his apartment from the USC campus when he was attacked by Ochoa and three others. Ji was beaten with a baseball bat and managed to get away but later died from his injuries.
Ochoa was charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree robbery, and attempted second-degree robbery. He has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Ochoa’s other three co-defendants were also sentenced. Andrew Garcia, 23, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the charges of first-degree murder, robbery, attempted robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon. Jonathon Del Carmen, 23, was given 15 years to life for second-degree murder. Alejandra Guerrero, 20, will serve life in prison without parole for first-degree murder, robbery, attempted robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.
In addition to these charges Ochoa, Garcia, and Guerrero have also been convicted for robbing a man and woman near Dockweiler Beach.
