Pasadena Wind Storm: Will We See More Winds Monday?

As officials from Southern California Edison work to restore power to areas around San Gabriel and Temple City, forecasters are saying winds are expected to pick up again on Monday. According to local meteorologists, Pasadena is expected to have winds gust up to 45MPH while local mountains could see gusts up to 75MPH.

However, meteorologists say that since the direction of the winds is changing, areas like the Newhall pass, high desert and local mountains will face the brunt of today’s gusts, which is good news for those in the San Gabriel Valley who still might be without power.

A red flag warning has also been issued for the Pasadena area today due to the forecasted dip in humidity, indicating that dry conditions could also spark fires in Los Angeles County. Pasadena’s red flag parking restrictions also go into effect, meaning residents are not allowed to park on certain narrow streets in the city.

A special weather statement has also been issued for the Pasadena and Los Angeles areas indicating that cold temperatures will persist through this Wednesday and locals should take caution to avoid sickness in the cold weather, especially in areas without power. Forecasters also say that since the winds will subside by Wednesday, a bigger chance of freezing temperatures comes which poses even a bigger danger.
