The City of Pasadena recently completed much-needed sod and irrigation system repairs at John Muir High School’s multi-purpose field, following a $55,000 donation the City received recently from the American Youth Soccer Association (AYSO). According to the City, all Pasadena youth involved in sports will benefit from the new improvements since the new space will be extremely valuable to sports teams and other schools throughout the community.
“AYSO’s support for the improvement of Muir’s playing field is an example of a community partner scoring a goal to help PUSD schools in these tough budgetary times,” said Adam Wolfson of the Pasadena Unified School District on the new improvements. The Board of Directors of AYSO’s Region 13 also said that they believe it is their “civic responsibility to help maintain the fields where they and other young sports enthusiasts play”.
Muir’s new field improvements include a new irrigation system to replace the old and failing hydraulic system, as well as the replacement of a large area of sod on the field.
Following the improvements, the field, which is used jointly by the City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Unified School District, will open for use in October of 2012.
