Authorities say four sheriff’s deputies were injured earlier today when their patrol car crashed into a telephone pole while responding to a call. They say the crash took place on the 5700 block of Passons Boulevard in the city of Pico Rivera. Officials say the four deputies were en route to help two fellow deputies after receiving a call that the pair was in an altercation with a vehicle theft suspect.

Administrators say two of the deputies in the backseat were seriously hurt when the driver swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle. They say also in the accident, a male deputy ended up with a broken arm and a female deputy suffered a possible leg injury.

Investigators say it is unconfirmed whether the patrol car was traveling with its lights and sirens on. They say further details about this accident are being investigated at this time.
