Crime task force arrests 3, uncovers residential burglary crew

During the early part of March, members of the West San Gabriel Valley Anti-Crime Task Force (AB 109 Team) were providing residential burglary suppression efforts in the City of Arcadia. The task force is comprised of detectives from Arcadia, Pasadena, South Pasadena, Monrovia, El Monte, Monterey Park, and Los Angeles County Probation. Their focus includes burglary/robbery suppression and investigation, parole and probation compliance, and fugitive apprehension.

On Thursday March 13, 2014, the Detectives responded to a call of a residential burglary in progress in the 1100 block of West Foothill Blvd, Arcadia. Upon their arrival a foot pursuit with three suspects ensued and one of the suspects was apprehended. Additionally, the suspects abandoned their vehicle, which was quickly reported stolen by the registered owner in Altadena.

Through investigation, the Task Force Detectives were able to identify all of the suspects, including the female who owns the suspect vehicle, as Pasadena/Altadena Blood gang members. The Task Force Detectives also uncovered that they were a burglary crew that is suspected of targeting several Arcadia homes in the past year.

Today the Task Force served a search warrant at five locations in the cities of Altadena and Pasadena. Members of the Arcadia SWAT team, Pasadena SWAT team, South Pasadena SWAT team, Monterey Park SWAT Team, and the Foothill Special Enforcement Team (FSET) served the high risk warrants for the Task Force Detectives.

The following suspects were taken into custody:

Name: Shawn Sykes
Charge: Residential Burglary
Bail $50,000.00

Name: Koreana Muhammed
Charge: Poss. of Stolen Property & accessory to burglary
Bail: $20,000

Arrested previously on the date of the burglary was Kenneth James of Altadena. The investigation is continuing and additional arrest(s) are likely. Numerous items of suspected stolen property were recovered at the various homes searched this morning. A large screen television was recovered and confirmed stolen out of a residential burglary in the City of Los Angeles.
