2nd Community Meeting on Closure of Two Major Avenues

By Anna Buss

The Foothill Extension Construction Authority is inviting local community members to attend a second meeting this month to learn about the upcoming full closures of Mountain Ave (at Duarte Rd) and Magnolia Ave (at the railroad crossing).

The second, and final meeting, is this Thursday, April 24th at 6 p.m. at Maxwell Elementary School, located at 733 Euclid Ave., Duarte, CA 91010.  The first meeting happened April 16th, at the Santa Fe Middle School Gymnasium in Monrovia.

Officials with the Construction Authority say the closures are required to allow crews to complete grade crossing improvements, as part of the 11.5-mile Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension light rail project.

Authority officials say both meetings will provide the same information and begin with a short presentation. Authority staff will be available at the meetings to answer questions about these closures, as well as the overall project.

The meeting agenda will include: Project Overview, Construction Updates on Mountain Ave and Magnolia Ave., and information on how to “Stay Safe Near Construction”.

As part of this project, the Mountain Ave/Duarte Rd intersection will also be fully reconstructed as part of the Mountain Ave closure.
