Police Arrest Claremont Man for Unlawful Sexual Relationship with a Minor

A 44-year-old martial arts instructor has been arrested for engaging in an unlawful sexual relationship with a 16-year-old Jiu Jitsu student, according to a Pomona Police press release.

Pomona Police Department says it received information that the instructor, and owner of a Jiu Jitsu gym in Claremont, had been engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old female student over the last year. Pomona Police Detective John Edson collected evidence that substantiated the allegation. Then, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office filed several felony counts to include unlawful sex with a minor.

Prior to his arrest, the suspect fled the country and was thought to be in South America. On August 22, the suspect was arrested at Miami International Airport as he re-entered the United States. He was held at the Miami Dade Correctional facility in Miami, until he is was extradited to Pomona, CA, where he is now facing felony charges.
