From a PUSD Press Release
Local business and civic leaders will be spending the day in the principal’s office on Thursday, October 23 for the ninth annual Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) “Principal for a Day” program. Sponsored by Merrill Lynch and coordinated by the Pasadena Educational Foundation, the program matches the talent and expertise of local community members with a school principal.
Since 2007, more than 275 community leaders have participated in the PUSD Principal for a Day program. Participants spend a morning on campus shadowing a PUSD school principal, giving them a rare and valuable perspective of running a public school.
“Principal for a Day provides our community leaders an opportunity to see the inner workings of our vibrant Pasadena Unified School District schools,” said PUSD Interim Superintendent Dr. Brian McDonald. “Many past principal for a day participants have established a bond with their host campus and have become strong supporters and vital members of the school’s community.”
This will mark the ninth year Merrill Lynch has sponsored the Pasadena program. “Merrill Lynch is proud to sponsor this local program that helps to bridge public and private sectors to strengthen and provide valuable resources for local public schools.” said Merrill Lynch Director Craig Colbath.
After their day on campus, the 2014 class of “Principal for a Day” graduates will gather for a luncheon and meet other principals and community leaders at Altadena Town & Country Club to share their experiences. Jennifer DeVoll, Executive Director of the Pasadena Community Foundation will serve as this year’s keynote speaker.
