The Asian Youth Center (AYC) received a matching gift donation of $20,000 from EDI Media, Inc. at a presentation on Friday, October 17th at EDI Cultural Center. The campaign, a joint effort by AYC, EDI Media, and the Asian American Cultural and Artistic (AACA) Foundation, was launched in the last week of September and concluded one week later.

All donations up to $10,000 were matched one for one. In all, contributions were made by AYC board members, staff, educators, parents, business owners, and community activists.

All of the money will be used to grow and implement an art program through AYC’s Accelerated Children’s Education (AYC) after-school program, where 92 students, grades 1-8, are currently enrolled.

In the past five years, the AACA Foundation has helped numerous youth on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. This year, the AACA Foundation, along with EDI Media initiated a series of fundraising operations to make an even deeper impact.

A total of $329,550 was raised through their efforts. Other non-profits that benefited this year from AACA Foundation and EDI Media include the Herald Foundation’s Shanxi Xian Yang Children’s Home ($230,130); Riverbend International School Foundation ($60,000); and AJA Guardian Angel Foundation ($19,400).

Founded in 1989, the Asian Youth Center (AYC) exists to empower low-income, immigrant, and at-risk youth and families, of all communities, to overcome barriers to success through the provision of culturally and linguistically competent education, employment, and social services. This year the agency celebrated its 25th anniversary.
