The Hospital’s Crystal Ball raises $700,000 and kicks off the fall social scene in the San Gabriel Valley.

Methodist Hospital’s 25th Annual Crystal Ball, held October 11th at the Pasadena Convention Center, successfully raised $700,000 in support of a new Acute Rehabilitation Unit, set for completion by 2016.

Event co-chairs Ron Okum and Mickey Segal could not be more pleased with the evening’s results.

The annual gala honored Christine Antonovich and her husband, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, for their many years of service and dedication to the hospital and the Crystal Ball.

Christine, a three-time Crystal Ball co-chair, and Michael, a longtime Los Angeles County Supervisor, have enthusiastically supported Crystal Ball and its efforts to rally community support for hospital services and programs.

The 885 guests arrived to a red-carpet greeting, complete with photographer, and were later treated to a gourmet dinner, followed by a delightfully nostalgic and entertaining performance by Paul Anka. During the hosted reception before dinner, guests participated in electronic bidding on wonderful silent auction items.

A special video celebrating the history of Crystal Ball featured the first co-chair and founder of the event, Celia Kalm. After dinner, another video telling the story of rehab patient Henry Cheng led the evening’s live fundraising activities, which raised $189,000. Cheng was a special guest in the audience.

The live auction offered exciting items such as a Disney Dream Party, a Dodgers suite for 20, a catered dinner with the Antonoviches and Cole and Cindy Harris, and the opportunity to have Paul Anka write and record lyrics for a personal song to the tune of “My Way.”

Arcadia Chamber Announces Hale Medical Center Ribbon-Cutting on Oct. 30th

Arcadia Historical Society members hosted a delicious dinner and skit at the former home of Prince ERICK of DENMARK*now owned by the Arcadia Congregational Church on S. Santa Anita Avenue, 10/23/14—–A.H.S. President Gene Glasco seated , was the emcee and played Prince Erick in the skit. Others were: front row: Beverly Street, Carol Libby (producer). 2nd row L-R Karen How, Gail Marshall, Char Wong, Scott Hettrick, Gil Stromsoe and Lee Shimmin.

“State of the Art Medical Center Open House”

The Arcadia Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony for chamber member Hale Medical Center located at 289 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia, CA on Thursday, Oct. 30th, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The state-of-art medical center will feature numerous amenities and conveniences for physicians and staff alike. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by an open house and will include complimentary hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

Hale Medical Center is located in the center of Arcadia with a foot bridge connecting it to the renowned Methodist Hospital. The medical center is another project developed and built by the Hale Corporation, a local developer that has been building in Arcadia for more than 35 years.
