Monrovia Public Library Foundation hosting literacy fundraiser November 2

Team UP! Dream UP! For Literacy is the theme of this year’s Monrovia Public Library Foundation’s Literacy Fundraiser.

The fundraiser will be held on:
Sunday, November 2
1:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Monrovia Public Library
321 S. Myrtle Avenue
Monrovia, CA 91016

Join us for a fun afternoon of team trivia, silent auction, live auction, and good food to help raise money for this worthwhile cause. Tickets are $40 per person and may be purchased at the Monrovia Public Library. Form your own team of 8 to 10 people or join a team to play Team Trivia. The winning team gets a great team prize.

English author Rumer Godden said that, “When you learn to read, you will be born again … and you will never be quite so alone again.” Unfortunately, 32 million America adults know the isolation caused by illiteracy. Nearly 15% of U.S. adults cannot read, translating to more than 1 in 10.

In the past few years, the funding for literacy programs has been reduced by 40% due to statewide budget cuts. Local adult education and funding for school libraries have also been severely cut, leaving Monrovia Public Library as the sole resource for literacy programs.

These cuts mean that the Monrovia Public Library Foundation must increase its fundraising efforts to offset the loss of state funding. We hope you will come to this event for fun while at the same time helping support the Monrovia Public Library Literacy Program.
