Peter Hoffman, 59, of Monrovia, has been appointed to the New Motor Vehicle Board. Since 1996, he has served as president of Sierra Autocars, where he previously was vice president from 1988 to 1995. Hoffman was an intern, attorney then partner for Nossaman, Guthner, Knox and Elliott from 1980 to 1988, legal intern for the Solar Energy Research Institute in 1979 and technical staff for Hughes Aircraft Company from 1976 to 1978. He is a member of the California New Car Dealer Association and Greater Los Angeles New Car Dealer Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Hoffman is a Democrat.
