Dozens gathered recently to mark the 3rd anniversary of the death of Kendrec McDade. The 19 year old was shot and killed by police as he ran from them following a call about an armed robbery. The victim had lied to police about McDade having a gun.
The vigil and march in honor of McDade took place at Central Park in Pasadena Tuesday, March 24th. McDade’s mother Anya Slaughter, friends and family, and members of the Black Lives Matter movement marched to City Hall. Although the City of Pasadena has since settled the lawsuit over McDade’s death to the tune of $1 million for his mother and father combined, Slaughter has been in and out of court fighting for the release of the full police report on her son’s death.
