Retired Dodger legend Tommy Lasorda will join the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Irwindale Police Department’s newly renovated Communication Center. Lasorda is a renown Major League baseball player and sports manager and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.
The new Communication Center features an enhanced 9-1-1 emergency telephone service for civilians and an upgraded radio system for officers, intended to improve the quality of life to the residents and businesses in Irwindale. The project took one year and $219,000 to complete.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on May 11, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Irwindale Police Department, located on 5050 North Irwindale Avenue in Irwindale, California. The ceremony is open to the public, with attendees being encouraged to meet Lasorda and the police department personnel. There will be tours of the station, as well as displays of various police cars and piece of equipment.
