A basketball coach from San Gabriel was charged with 12 counts of lewd act on a child for sexually molesting one of his players in 2004, the Los Angeles County District Attorney announced July 28.
Tony Wong, 61, invited the victim to join his team at Alpine Recreation Center in Chinatown when the boy was 14. Then, from January 1 to August 4, 2004, Wong would supposedly use the center and hotel rooms in other cities to sexually molest the victim.
Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested Wong July 27 before he was released on $240,000 bond. His arraignment will be August 17 at Foltz Criminal Justice Center in Department 30. If convicted as charged, Wong will receive 10 years and 8 months in state prison.
