The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office announced that two alleged gang members pleaded not guilty to murdering a 67-year-old woman last month. The suspects, Devon T. White, dob 2/4/97, of Lynwood, and James Wesley Trotter aka ManMan, dob 11/7/95, of Long Beach, are faced with one count each of murder with a special circumstance allegation of murder during the commission of a robbery, second-degree robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Prosecutors allege that White personally used a handgun during the crime, he was also convicted in 2015 of possession for sale of cocaine base. The defendants, White and Trotter are scheduled to return to court on September 21st, at the Los Angeles County superior court.
The suspects allegedly had followed victim Hye Soon Oh, from her business in Lynwood, back to her apartment complex in Montrose on August 8th, where she was allegedly gunned down and robbed at the garage. Both of the defendants face a possible maximum sentence of death or life in prison, without the possibility of parole, as far as any decision on whether to seek the penalty will be made at a later date.
