Authorities say a transient was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for being drunk in public and was re-arrested again that night after he vandalized three police cars upon his release from the city jail.
The man was initially jailed on suspicion of public intoxication, but after he sobered up he was later released from custody at about 10:00 p.m., say police. They say when he walked away from the police station, he began “beating up” on three police cars parked on Walnut Street.
Officials say the suspect was back in custody within minutes of his release, when a witness reported seeing the vandalism. They say the man broke a mirror and bent the antennas on the three police cars.
