Another Hiker Rescued

LA County Search and Rescue crews including some from Altadena, rescued a stranded lone hiker Monday afternoon.  They haven’t released the man’s name, but say he’s a white male who had slipped off of a freshly cut trail in the Chaney Trail-Mt. Lowe area of the Angeles National Forest.  After falling 100 feet down the side of the cliff, he injured his leg.  He was able to call emergency crews on his cell phone, even though the signal went in and out.  The rescue helicopter lowered a paramedic who found that the hiker had made a splint out of a hammer and bootlaces to stabilize his leg.  Rescue crews treated his leg and several cuts and flew him to a nearby hospital.
