On Friday, October 31, 2014 beginning at 3:30 pm the City of Sierra Madre hosts its annual Halloween Happenings event for youth. The event includes trick-or-treating at the Downtown businesses, a costume parade, and a costume contest: all activities are free to participate.
Trick-or-treating occurs for 3:30pm-5:00pm and participating businesses will have a Halloween sign in their window.
The costume parade, led by the Sierra Madre Fire Department, begins promptly at 5:00pm in Kersting Court and ends approximately 15 minutes later at Memorial Park. The Costume Contest begins at 5:30pm sharp at the Memorial Park Bandshell.
All Costume Contest contestants must complete a waiver prior to participating, and can do so in Kersting Court from 4:00-5:00pm. The following categories are judged: 2 years old and under, 3-4 years old, 5-7 years old, 8-12 years old, group costume, and scariest costume.
Each group entry must include one youth under 17 and scariest costume participants must be 17 years old and under. Prizes are awarded in each category.
The event is hosted and supported by the City’s Community Services Department, Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce, and Sierra Madre Kiwanis Club.
An information table will be located in Kersting Court the day of the event, but for more information leading up to the event please visit www.cityofsierramadre.com or call the Community Services Department at (626) 355.5278.
